The Base Nautique de Vaires-sur-Marne, just 20 kilometres east of Paris, is an ambitious and innovative project that embodies the perfect blend of sustainability and sporting excellence. Designed by architects Auer + Weber + Assoziierte, the complex extends over a 200-hectare site, offering modern, environmentally-friendly facilities, destined to host the Olympic and para-Olympic canoeing and rowing competitions in Paris in 2024. This project, the only one of its kind in Europe, goes beyond the world sporting event to offer a long-term leisure area for the people of the Ile-de-France region, including rafting, hydrospeed and a range of water-based activities to complement the existing offer.
